One of my favorite shows currently on TV.  I grew up on the old show, my brother’s and I would run around the living room with vipers and raiders made from bristle blocks.  I think we were like 9, 7 and 5 back in 1978, I’m the oldest.  I still remember how loud the viper’s were when we saw BSG in the theaters.  Best thing since Star Wars was long gone.

I heard about the remake from a co-worker who discounted the show, saying it was horrible with all the gender reversals.  I was working twelve hour night shifts and it happened to be on when I worked so I never got to watch it.  Christmas 2005 I bought an ipod video (60gb), and bought all the episodes from iTunes and watched them none stop over my holiday vacation.  BSG instantly became my favorite show as I’ve not seen decent scifi in my opinion in a very long time.

My favorite episodes when I was a kid where any that had space battles and that is true today with the best dogfight episode being a toss up between Act of Contrition and Scar.

My favorite character is Lt. Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace but pretty much everyone else is a close second.  It was really difficult to pick just one.  New BSG is able to pull off what I like to call ‘suspension of disbelief’ and I must say that is what makes the show amazing in its own right, when other shows leave one jaded.

There is a great multi-platform game (alpha testing?) called, Beyond the Red Line for both the Mac and the PC, which will be one hell of a game when completed.  Set in the Battlestar Galactica universe, this is one multi-player flight sim based on a revamped Freespace 2 engine.  Get started here in the BtRL Forums.

BSG is in its fourth and final season and it will be one wild ride to the end.  The original series never found Earth, will they this time around?  Just the humans?  or the Cyclon’s?  or both?  Sadly, the series will end but there is hope that the BSG saga will continue with the spinoff ‘Caprica.’
