Wardec’d by Mercs!
Last corp that wardec’d us ended up getting the short end of the stick as our veteran pilots laid the smack’th down on their sorry heads. Interestingly enough we got wardec’d by a merc corp shortly after we dec’d them back, and refused our demand for ransom. Stay tuned to see what happens.

Incoming! Drama! One of our vets used to belong to the merc corp, apparently he left on a sour note and they are out for his blood. Talk about poor timing, we had to drop our previous dec so we weren't faced with a war on two fronts.
The merc corp wardec'ing our corp caused us to split off our industrial and pve folks into a second corporation with the intent that it would just leave our pvp veterans to deal with the war. Not to be daunted, the merc corp promptly declared war on the indy corp as well.
Dealing with a wardec is a not only a corporate decision but a personal one a capsular must come to grips with and the options are somewhat limited and frustrating for non-pvp or low skill point pilots.
1) Relocate to another system in a different region of space, preferably 10+ hops or so away, more the better. Although you can still be found if the enemy runs a trace on you, your best bet is try to minimize attention to yourself by staying off of local chat and not getting killed. At least you can still run missions, let finding a new agent be your guide.
2) Stay docked and/or offline, if your not available then they cannot kill you. Not much fun in not playing a game when you want to. If you have other ways of generating ISK such as trading, then this could be another option available to you.
3) Leave your wardec'd corporation for another corp. It takes time, 24 hours, to drop corp if you haven't dropped roles. Consider your next corporation carefully, wardec's are a fact of life in high-sec. One needs to find the best method that works for them. Personally if you like your current corporation, talk to leadership, find out what the game plan is so you can keep your options open. If you do leave, try to leave on good terms and see if they will re-invite you after the wardec is over.

I decided to go with option #3 and leave my corp as our goals both lead in different directions. As with anything, focus changes for corporations as well as individual capsuleers. A corporation may decide it is in their best interests to sacrifice players with lower skill points and game experience with a mixture of specializations to well seasoned ones thus creating a core of pilots more suited to lower/null security space.
One has to weigh out carefully personal choices and assess the risks involved verses the rewards or be faced with the frustration of serious setbacks. Remember EVE has a steeper learning curve due to its innate complexity then most other MMO's. New pilots often quit the game altogether rather then tough out these pitfalls. A good corporation goes a long way towards smoothing out those pitfalls, helping a new pilot consider all their options as they don't have the benefit of the veteran's wisdom and experience.
My first corporation taught me allot about the game and I have prospered from their generosity. I wish them good hunting in pursuit of their goals, both personal and as a corporation. I relish the opportunities presented by my new corporation and alliance and look forward to the excitement of similar interests. For all the former friends and corp mates caught between, may they find their bearings and ours paths cross again, even if it be on opposing sides.
